Even before the launch of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
back in October 2011, the tech industry has been discussing about the
next version of the Android operating system, Android 5.0. And Android
5.0 is currently one among the hottest topics and the most anticipated
technology products. Most recently, ASUS, a hardware manufacturer, has
suggested that it may be the first company to offer the Google’s
upcoming OS thanks to its close relationship with Google.
The
name of Android 5.0 is one of the most-mentioned aspects. Google has a
tradition of naming the Android versions in alphabetical order with a
dessert theme, including Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread,
Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich. So, what is the codename of Android
5.0?

Asus could well be the first company to offer Android 5.0 Jelly Bean for smartphones and tablets
During
the interview with TechRadar at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona,
Spain, Asus’ corporate vice president Benson Lin seemed to have
confirmed the official name of Google’s next version of its mobile
operating system, Jelly Bean, saying that “Asus is very close to Google,
so once they have Android 5.0 I think there will be a high possibility
that we will be the first wave to offer the Jelly Bean update.”

Google hasn’t made the announcement about the name as well as the release date and features of the Android 5.0

However, Asus seemed to have revealed the official name of Google’s next version of its mobile operating system Jelly Bean
Asus
used to be the first company to get Android 3.2 Honeycomb on their
devices. It is also the first big vendor to offer a tablet update to the
current Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Therefore, it’s easy to
understand why they are attempting to be the first firm to offer an
update to Android 5.0 Jelly Bean.

The release date of Android 5.0 Jelly Bean hasn’t been confirmed, but the Google’s upcoming OS will come in summer 2012
Last
week, at the Mobile World Congress 2012, the hardware manufacturer
introduced a number of devices, including its Padfone handset, which is a
3-in-1 combo of a smartphone, tablet and notebook with the hope that it
will gain attention in the market. Asus has also recently released
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its Transformer TF101 tablet.

The one of the latest Android rumours is that Google may release Android 5.0 Jelly Bean this summer
